History

Northern Boston Terrier club of England’s first meeting was held on 3rd June 1972, after a group of Boston Terrier enthusiasts got together with the aim of promoting the Boston breed in the North of the Country.

Several of the founding members included Mrs Anne Kennedy-Clifton, the late and well respected Joyce Briggs along with our president Joan Plac who sadly passed away in 2021 . The newly formed society held its first show in April 1973 in Bolton, which was judged by renowned all rounder Arthur Westlake (Baytor). The profit from the show was an impressive £36 – not much by today’s standards, but a huge amount of money 40 years ago!
